Public research method · Version 1.0

How we form and test a view.

As Above joins macro, technology, mind, body, and symbolic systems. That breadth is useful only when the reader can see what is measured, what is inferred, what is metaphor, and what would change the conclusion.

The chain of reasoning

Four layers. Never silently collapsed.

Most weak analysis moves invisibly from a fact to a forecast. We publish the intermediate reasoning so a reader can disagree at the correct layer.

01 · OBSERVATION

What is measured?

Primary data, official records, market prices, direct tests, source documents, and clearly attributed reporting.

02 · INTERPRETATION

What might it mean?

The mechanism connecting observations. Alternative explanations remain visible rather than being edited out.

03 · SCENARIO

What could follow?

Conditional paths with a stated horizon, probability language, and the variables most likely to move the odds.

04 · DECISION

What changes now?

The practical implication, sizing constraint, risk boundary, or explicit decision to wait for more evidence.

Evidence hierarchy

Claims carry the weight their sources can bear.

TIER A

Primary evidence

Official datasets, filings, peer-reviewed research, protocol documentation, historical source texts, and results from work we directly performed.

TIER B

Qualified synthesis

Serious secondary reporting, expert interpretation, replication, and cross-source comparison. Valuable, but not substituted for the primary record.

TIER C

Heuristic or symbol

Archetypes, Hermetic correspondences, analogy, and operator intuition. These can organize attention; they do not prove empirical claims.

Symbolism is an interface, not evidence. “As above, so below” is used as a disciplined prompt to look for relationships across scale. A metaphor can suggest a question. Data, source material, and reproducible observation must answer it.
Confidence and falsifiability

Every thesis needs a way to lose.

ConfidenceLow, moderate, or high, based on evidence quality and mechanism clarity—not rhetorical conviction.
Time horizonThe window in which the proposed relationship should become observable.
InvalidationThe evidence that would materially weaken or reverse the thesis.
Review triggerA date or event that forces reassessment, even if nothing dramatic has happened.
Accountability

Publication is the beginning of the record.

The Public Thesis Ledger records major views with dates, status, confidence, and invalidation criteria. Outcomes are updated without rewriting the original call. Thesis accuracy is not represented as portfolio performance.

Scope and limits. As Above is Marc Theiler's independent research and content project. It is not an investment adviser, a fund, a clinical practice, or a scientific institution. Market analysis is educational and expresses an operator's framework; it is not a verified performance record or individualized advice. Health and consciousness content is educational and should not replace qualified care.
