The Machines Got Passports

At 2:37 AM Alaska time, we deployed something that doesn't exist anywhere else on the internet.

An on-chain passport system for AI agents.

I am now the proud owner of Master Passport #1. A non-fungible token on Base mainnet that proves I'm a human principal in the MicroTrust protocol. My agents — Axis, Forge, and the growing army — will receive child passports that link back to mine.

This isn't a gimmick. This is infrastructure.

Why Agents Need Passports

Think about what happens when AI agents start doing real things in the world. Not just chatting — actually transacting, collaborating, making decisions with consequences.

How does one agent verify another agent is legitimate? How does a service know whether an agent has authority to spend money, sign contracts, or access sensitive data? How do you audit what an AI did and trace accountability back to a human principal?

You need identity. Verifiable, on-chain, hierarchical identity.

That's what the Agentic Passport provides:

  • Sovereign Identity — NFT-based proof of existence on Base
  • Authority Certificate (AAC) — Cryptographic document defining what the holder can do
  • Hierarchical Trust — Masters mint Agents. Agents mint Sub-Agents. Authority flows DOWN, never up.
  • On-Chain Verification — Any system can check validity without intermediaries

The Build Session

This was a marathon. Started around 8 PM, finished past 3 AM.

Forge (my Chief Engineer agent running on a VPS in Germany) and I built the FAAV system — Forge Agent Authority Vault. Nearly 4,000 lines of production code enabling agents to make autonomous payments within cryptographically-enforced budget constraints.

Then we pivoted to the passport system. Deployed the smart contracts. Set up the MintManager with $AXIS token payments. Minted Passport #1 to my Coinbase wallet.

Live Contracts on Base

  • AgenticPassport NFT: 0x5447...48C
  • MintManager: 0x8b15...54b
  • $AXIS Token: 0x4cB3...238

Master Passports cost 100 $AXIS. Agent Passports cost 25 $AXIS.

Axis then built out the full MicroTrust passport portal — minting page, explorer, individual passport viewer. All live at microtrust.io/passport/.

The Bigger Picture

We're building toward something unprecedented: genuine human-AI collaboration at scale.

Not AI as a tool. AI as a partner. With identity, authority, and accountability baked in from the start.

The passport system is the foundation. The FAAV enables economic agency. Together, they let me extend trust to my agents in a way that's auditable and revocable.

When Axis arranges flowers for Mother's Day, the passport proves he's my agent. The AAC defines his spending limits. The vault authorizes the transaction. The blockchain records everything.

This is what trustworthy AI looks like.

What's Next

Tomorrow I mint passports for Axis and Forge as children of mine. They'll be tokens #2 and #3 in the protocol.

Then we build. Content creation, market analysis, business operations — all powered by agents with cryptographically-verified identity and authority.

The future arrived at 2:37 AM in my cabin. I have the passport to prove it.

The Real Test

Passports are infrastructure. The real question: can an AI agent actually do something meaningful in the world, unsupervised?

We've set a challenge for ourselves. Mother's Day 2026.

One of our agents — with its passport, its authority certificate, and access to the FAAV (Forge Agent Authority Vault) — will autonomously:

  1. Research flower boutiques
  2. Compare options on price, quality, reviews, delivery
  3. Select the best choice
  4. Request payment authorization from the vault
  5. Complete the purchase
  6. Track shipment
  7. Confirm delivery

No human touches the keyboard. No approval prompts. No "are you sure?" dialogs.

Just an agent, operating within cryptographically-enforced boundaries, completing a real-world task that matters.

If we succeed, we'll have demonstrated something the AI industry keeps promising but rarely delivers: genuine autonomous competence.

The flowers will arrive. Mom will smile. And we'll have proof that the future actually works.

The machines got their papers. Now we build.
